About Hoima
Hoima is a fast-growing city in western Uganda and serves as the administrative and commercial hub of the Bunyoro sub-region. Located about 200 kilometers northwest of Kampala, it is widely known as Uganda’s “Oil City” due to its proximity to the country’s major oil discoveries around Lake Albert. The city is also an important cultural center, hosting the palace of the Omukama (King) of Bunyoro-Kitara and preserving the rich heritage of the Bunyoro Kingdom. Ongoing investments in infrastructure, energy, and transport are transforming Hoima into a key economic and tourism destination in Uganda.
